Well, 2020 is over. For some, 2020 may have been the worst year of their lives and for others, 2020 may have been their break-through year. Either way, I don’t know anyone who hasn’t dealt with a drastic change from the pandemic to racial tension to quarantining. I don’t know that I’ve ever known so many people losing their loved ones in such a short time period - so many RIPs, Condolences and Prayers. It was also a year of changes for people either losing their jobs or having to work from home. God bless the ESSENTIAL WORKERS. THEY DID THAT.

Also, 2020 birthed so many entrepreneurs. I believe 2020 gave people a new found passion for their individual businesses, a kick in the pants, if you will. I know it did for me. It forced me to dust off my skills and get back to what I love without mapping out every single step. After all, we did not know what was going to happen day to day anyway. It was like “might as well” work this dream…“Might as well” trust God… “Might as well” heal… *Insert shoulder shrugs lol

In some ways, I needed this year because I honestly believe isolation gave me a new perspective. I was more intentional about my spirit/faith, my health and my finances. I feel like there were a lot of fight or flight moments for me this year. I chose to fight a lot, to confront some of my shortcomings that were limiting my growth. I truly believe that I am a better woman coming out of 2020 than I was coming in. GOD, I’m grateful.

My mood board coming into the new year is a little warmer than the past “all grey errythang” movement. I started with Sherwin Williams’ color of the year, Urbane Bronze, and came up with this board. I wanted to create a mellow atmosphere - not too vibrant, but not overly subtle. I named it Mellowed Out in reference to the “calm after the storm” that was 2020.

In reference to ourselves, this board is about finding joy in the midst of the storm. The Urbane Bronze color gives us a since of depth - A bit of trouble, a little storm. The yellow and brighter accents contrast to give us a bit of joy. Since we know according to John 16:33 that trouble will come, we have to give ourselves room for joy. We have to create spaces that are metaphors for our peace and the joy that GOD promised us.

Have a prosperous, abundant, love-filled year. COME ON, 2021! WHEW!
